Holding Our School Districts Hostage With Common Core

Posted by on Thursday, May 16, 2013, @, 8, pm in Politics | 0 comments

I think every politician should be required to research and read the material they are being asked to vote on.  Because when people vote for things they have no idea what the true implications on, we get things such as Common Core.  As much as I am adamantly against Common Core, there is really not a damn thing any of us can do about it.  The federal government is taking our school system and holding it hostage.

Let’s take for example this years proposed Arizona Budget which includes this language in regards to funding for school districts:

Subject to appropriation of state monies, or receipt of federal monies, private donations or grants from any lawful public or private source for this purpose, the department of education, in coordination with the data governance commission established by section 15‑249.01, shall develop and implement the education learning and accountability system to collect, compile, maintain and report student level data for students attending public educational institutions that provide instruction to pupils in preschool programs, kindergarten programs, grades one through twelve and postsecondary educational programs in this state.

As required under Common Core, the state and school districts are required to create this database.  I didn’t realize that not only is the federal government going to hold federal funds and force states to hold state funds hostage from school districts who may not want to go along with this new Common Core, but they are ALSO saying that any private donations, grants or any other source of money cannot be accepted until they implement this!

So our government now is creating a database that has over 400 points of sensitive data in it requiring all sorts of information from our children.  For example they will require information on sexual preference, household gun ownership, mental health issues, and much more. This information will be tracked from pre-school all the way to post college.

Wow!  This is what we decided was best for our children!  A set of standards and a tracking database that can be given out to any 3rd party the Department of Education finds suitable!!

Did the Arizona legislators who passed Common Core in 2010 have no brain or did they just blindly pass it not even thinking of the consequences!!?

Well seeing that the Common Core standards weren’t even fully implemented until AFTER the state passed it – I am assuming the latter.

We are in trouble people and if you can’t see it – you live in a more delusional world than I do.

The Economic Failure of Lake Havasu City

Posted by on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, @, 9, pm in Politics | 0 comments

So an opportunity has been laid out in front of me to voice my unpleasant, dissatisfied and utter disappointment in our Lake Havasu City Council and Mayor.  Do you think I’m going to pass up the opportunity to do it?  Haha!  Hell No.

This past weekend as previously stated I attended the LGBT picnic at Rotary.  I spoke to a dear friend in regards to his recent decision to pack up his life here in Havasu and relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada.  He isn’t doing it because he doesn’t like it here.  He isn’t doing it because Vegas has a way better LGBT community than Havasu and he’s not even doing it because in the city of Vegas the marriage to his husband will be noticed and legal.  He’s doing it because the Company he works for is relocating to Henderson after failed attempts to communicate with the City and after feeling mistreatment by our own City Council and Mayor.

Yes, my friend works for Creative Tent a company that moved here in 2004 and now nine years later is packing up and relocating to another location.

The Today’s News Herald a while back did a nice little fluff piece on the whole thing sitting the reason for the relocation was that Havasu wasn’t ‘ideal’ for them and they already owned two buildings in Henderson that would be perfect for expansion.  Yeah I know – boring huh?   That’s why I blog people – to tell you the unfluffy version of events.  I obviously don’t do ‘fluff.’

100 jobs are leaving Havasu.   Let me rephrase 100 jobs are leaving the Industrial Park the city spent over $4 million on!  Industrial park?  Oh what a joke!  I use to live in Tucson, Arizona now THEY have Industrial Parks.  What we have is a sad excuse for empty building space.

If the City would spend less time giving away City tax dollars on skate parks and more time focusing on economic development maybe this town could be known for something beyond it’s big “spring break” parties.  When was the last time the PED brought anything to this town?

That thing you all call a mall down on the far north side of town is nothing but Wal-Mart, JCP, Dillard’s (which I don’t see how they survive with their outrageous prices), Petsmart … oh yeah and that movie theater.   I do believe there are a couple smaller stores like Rue 21 and whatnot but really – you call that a mall?  No – that’s not a mall.  It’s a shopping complex!!

Honestly there are no jobs in this town besides retail, Sterilite (and from what I have heard I would never in my right mind work for that company), and tourism.  Oh and your government jobs and occasional telemarketing jobs like Suddenlink.

I think the city needs to refocus it’s priorities and start caring about economic development because if the Mayor and Council think that the most important thing is to build skate parks and put beautiful white sand down near the lake shore … well this town is going to be turned into a Ghost Town faster than you can say sliced bread.

I’ll miss my friend when he moves but I don’t blame him for moving with the company like he said “who else in this town will pay him $15 an hour?”

Wake up Lake Havasu City & next election vote for people who actually give a shit about this town – not people like Nexsen and others who only seem to care about the politics of it all.

It’s Budget Time

Posted by on Saturday, May 11, 2013, @, 2, pm in Politics | 0 comments

Well it is that time of year again – budget time!  A new fiscal year is almost upon us and it is that time when all government entities sit down and do their budgets.

So let’s take a look at what we are dealing with this year in regards to revenue for FY2014.

At the State Level we have our usual cat and mouse game between the Republican Party.  You have Governor Brewer who wants a budget with Medicaid Expansion in it and she won’t accept a budget without it.  Than you have the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader (both Republicans) who don’t feel Medicaid should be expanded to include those making 133 percent of the federal poverty level.  Brewer is actually trying to align with the Democratic Party to get her Medicaid Expansion.

So the question is simple – should Medicaid be expanded to include those adults making 133% of the federal poverty level?   Up until a couple years ago when the financial crisis began – Medicaid did IN DEED cover those making 133% of the poverty level.  But the State couldn’t afford it anymore – so they got rid of it.  So the question is – should it return?

Let’s take away Obama Care and the requirement that the State has to do this in order to get the extra federal money for Medicaid.  Just take away that factor because in the long run Obama Care only covers the extra coverage for so many years.  In the end – it’ll be up to the states to cover it anyway.  So back to the original question – can the state afford to reinstate this extra coverage?

In my conservative opinion – no.  Next year everyone has to be on some form of Health Care.  The federal government is going to subsidies those that cannot afford it anyway.  So why is the state going to go that extra mile and do something that will already be done by the feds?  I don’t care what Governor Brewer says – the state is not as fluff in money as she makes it seem.  That’s my personal opinion.  I believe the conservative figures the Joint Legislative Budget Committee released because you always go with the more conservative figures.  It’s the Conservative thing to do.

So in theory – no.  The state of Arizona should not pass the Medicaid expansion … HOWEVER

Yes there is a however

Proposition 204 passed in 2000.  It was a voter approved initiative that required Arizona to cover those making 133% of the poverty level.   I am a big stickler of voter approved initiatives.  Even if I don’t like them or don’t agree with them – like Prop 8 in California – it’s a VOTER APPROVED initiative meaning the VOTERS put it in place.  If the voters of the State of Arizona want to spend their tax dollars (because at the end of the day the Arizona State Budget is only there due to our tax dollars) on covering 133% of the poverty level then the State needs to do it.  Now granted this was passed 13 years ago so MAYBE it needs to go BACK on the ballot.  Maybe voters have changed their mind but until THAT happens I cannot in good faith say we should not cover the Medicaid Expansion.

Now as for the County budget – well the County for the past 5 years anyway (I moved back in 2008) has been in the black.  However we got 3 new Supervisors this past November and are in the process of selecting a new County Administrator (yes they changed the name from Manager to Administrator because in order to be a manager you’d actually have to manage somebody and with this new board the Manager is really just a puppet to the Board of Supervisors) so I really am intrigued to see the County’s finances since we got these three new Supervisors.  I mean after all we did just ‘give away’ County buildings, County flood control dollars and $250,000 to a park in Mohave Valley.  With all this ‘free’ money just being given away to the Cities and various Supervisors’ agendas – I really cannot wait to see what the budget looks like this year.   Should be interesting.

Now as for the City Budget – well I have not read much in the papers regarding it except for the City wanting to give money away to nonprofits.  What is up with people giving away my tax dollars these days?  First the City pays for the skate park now they are giving away money to nonprofit agencies hand-picked by the City Council.  What if the LGBTS Non Profit wants money?  How can I apply for some of that free City money for them?  Hmmm?   Nonprofits are there to RAISE money for their cause not to be given free Government handouts with MY tax dollars.

Fiscal Year 14 – should be interesting to see how all these different budgets play out.

Bringing Out the County’s Checkbook

Posted by on Friday, Feb 8, 2013, @, 10, pm in Politics | 1 comment

Please Note: The following is the PERSONAL opinion of Sarah A Hall.  The following does not reflect the opinion of any other business, organization, individual or government entity.  It is the personal opinion of Sarah A Hall written for publication on this website

Most news article relating to this past Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting will mention how Mohave County saved over $272,000.  What they won’t mention is how much the County spent and when you compare that to what the County supposedly “saved” – by firing and reorganizing the County government so it’s now a top down system instead of bottom up one – is nothing compared to how much they spent.

First off, we have $250,000 for a park in Mohave Valley.  I like how Mr. Moss spinned the entire thing to make it seem like what the County was about to do was the right thing.  In fact for a moment, I found myself going ‘oh, okay!  I get it’ but then I woke up and realized Mr. Moss was a lawyer in a prior life (or is he a lawyer still … I think the verdict may still be out on that one) and spinning is what lawyers are good at.  Let me explain to you the problem with this entire scenario.  First off, there is this “anonymous” donor.  An anonymous donor said they would donate $250,000 contingent on a 2-to-1 match and completion within 18 months.  The Park Committee has secured through the Legacy Foundation one of those $250,000 matches.  The other match fell through last minute which resulted in the committee asking the County for the other match.  Additionally, three contractors have promised in-kind donations valued at about $300,000.  River Valley High School promised to maintain the park for fifty years as long as they had first dibs on the soccer fields and basketball courts.  From a far I suppose it does seem like a good idea.  For $250,000 Mohave County gets another park maintained free (for fifty years anyway) and River Valley gets soccer fields and basketball courts free of charge (well they have to provide maintenance).  But what no one is mentioning is how Mr. Moss is the attorney for this “anonymous” donor.  I really hate the word “anonymous.”  It makes everything associated with it sound fishy if you ask me.  And why should we pay for a park in Mohave Valley?  What about a County Park in Colorado City or Golden Shores for that matter?  What about those communities?  What if Desert Hills wants a park?  Can they team up with the Lake Havasu Unified School District to get a park paid for with County tax dollars?  Are we not setting precedence here?  Why does Mr. Moss get his park when he has been Supervisor for 15 minutes and no one else does?  And again – what is with the anonymous donor and the attorney connection?  Oh well – when all is said and done – it was approved by a 4 to 1 vote.  Mohave Valley and Mr. Moss got their park at a cost of $250,000 of our tax payer money.  Please remember that at Election time and all those in Golden Shores and Desert Hills please call your Supervisor and demand YOUR park.

Next up, we have the cities.  The Board approved reallocating $1.3 Million in flood control money to the cities of Bullhead, Kingman, Lake Havasu City, and Colorado City.  Now I am sure many of you may think the County “owed” the cities that money, but you don’t ‘reallocate’ money in the middle of a budget year!  Let me put it to you in simple terms – say you do a yearly budget.  You paid your friend a good amount of money at the begin of the year to help him through hard times.  You paid him that money because well you sort of did owe it to him due to past agreements and whatnot.  Anyway it comes mid year and he asks for more money.  So you give it to him.  You tell him he doesn’t have to pay it back.  It’s okay.  We’ll just stop the remodel on the bathroom that is half way done.  Make since?  No!  You have allocated that money for your bathroom remodel.  You don’t stop doing your remodel and pay your friend instead.  It may seem like the ‘nice’ thing to do, but come on.  Really?  You don’t give money to the cities mid budget year.

So let’s add that up – $250,000 + $1.3 million not to mention the amount we lost on giving away (not selling) a County building to the City of Bullhead!

The new Board of Supervisors has saved this County nothing when compared to how much they have spent.   It doesn’t take a person with a math degree to figure that out.

I had to laugh the other day when on the Mohave Folks site I saw that someone had said how “conservative” these new Supervisors are.  If spending over $1.5 million of County money is “conservative” – I think you and I have a VERY different definition of the word.

A Waste of Taxpayer Money

Posted by on Tuesday, Dec 4, 2012, @, 7, pm in Politics | 0 comments

You know throughout the entire 2012 Election all I ever heard from these so-called “Supervisor Elects” was how the County shouldn’t waste money on foolish things.  I think the word I am looking for here is hypocrite.  Not even officially sworn is at Supervisors, the three “Supervisor Elects” have already cost Mohave County over $200.

Now okay let’s say the $368 figure the Today’s News Herald quoted for the cost of the “Supervisor Elects” Orientational Tours is correct, I know $368 in comparison to the entire County Budget is nothing.  However, it’s still $368 that could have been spent else where.

Here’s my opinion on the matter: you ran for the office of Supervisor.  You should know exactly what you’re getting into before running for a position such as County Supervisor.  You shouldn’t need an orientation and any questions you may have can be asked along the way.  No need to waste County officials time and tax payers money on explaining procedures and rules you should have very well known prior to running for the position.

In all my research, I do not believe that Mohave County has EVER shelled out money for “supervisor elect” Tours and Orientation.  If you want a tour of the County Facilities, then get in your own car and tour them yourself.  Last time I checked, the County buildings are open to the public.  Don’t waste tax payer dollars having County officials take you on a tour.

This is just a waste of taxpayer money!  So much for these new ‘Supervisors’ trying to save the tax payers.  Not even sworn in and they are costing us far more then any ‘Supervisor Elect’ has ever cost Mohave County.

We’ve Made A Lot of Mistakes

Warning: The Following Contains AOTM Spoilers! Reader Discretion is Advised!

“Hey,” I sighed sitting down next to him on the curb as the wind blew through our faces.  He stared off into space next to me like he was a million miles away.  Thought after thought raced through my mind on what could be weighing so heavily on his shoulders.

“Hi,” he finally said quietly looking up at me.  “Things sure have changed from five years ago.”

“Yeah, but some things have not,” I replied.  “I’m sorry.”

“For what?” he asked.

“For making you out to be this horrible person.  I’m sorry I put that on you.  I’m sorry that people hate you because of it.”

“People hate me because of what I’ve done to them not because of what you did or said I did.  People hate me because of me.  So don’t carry that around on your shoulders, and stop apologizing.  I think you and I are both past the “I’m sorry” part of our relationship,” he smiled.

“I’m still sorry.  This wasn’t how I pictured us in the year 2012.”

“I don’t think it’s how anybody pictured themselves to be honest.  Life sucks and then you die.  Simple truth Ann Mathews.  Simple truth.”

“But it shouldn’t have to suck!” I exclaimed.  “I get that life isn’t rainbows and sunshine like the 16 year old me thought, but god it has to be more than this.”

“Yeah, it does.  You’re right life has to amount to something more than gray clouds and cold rain.  So the question is now what do we do?”

“Me and you stop fighting and call a truce.  Let it go.”

“Let it go?” he laughed.  “You and I have lied so much I don’t know what is truth and what isn’t anymore.  I was there you know.”

“Huh?” I asked.

“For your 23rd birthday.  I was there.”

“I know but you weren’t there too.”

“That was at your request Ann.  Remember?  Schizophrenic Ann Mathews makes up her lover boy Justin Lenox.  It was your story line not mine.”

“I know.”

“I was there for your 23rd birthday.  I was there when Joey died.  I was there when you needed a friend to pack up your apartment because your relationship with Bobby fell apart.  I was there the night you called me after you moved out of Kris’s that night.  I was there so maybe when you write your story you can remember to put in that I wasn’t as horrible as a friend as you made me out to be.”

“I’m sorry …”I started to say.

“No!” he exclaimed.  “I need to say something and then after I say it we can call a truce.”

“Okay,” I sighed.

“I needed you and you were there for me in High School when I didn’t even realize I needed a friend.  You saved my life and I will forever be grateful to you for that.  But when we lost our child you weren’t there.  You have never acknowledged the fact that you and I lost a child together.  I lost a man I thought I was in love with and a child all within a week and the one person I always thought I could count on just wasn’t there.  I love you.  No let me rephrase I am in love with you.  I’ll never ever act on that love for you, but I am in love with you and maybe that’s why Elliot and I aren’t going to last.  I have done horrible things and in return you have done the same amount of horrible to me as I have to you.  I guess were even.  For everything I ever did to you in High School you have come back and got your revenge.”

“Justin I …”

“I’m not done,” he interrupted.  “Despite what has been said or what has been done between us at the end of the day you are my best friend.  You’re the only person I have ever met who taught me what friendship and love is.  I think you have forgotten.  I get that you’re not sixteen anymore and everything is no longer rainbows and sunshine but you are the girl who taught me what it meant to be a true friend and what it meant to truly love somebody.  So despite what you and I have done to one another, we will call a truce and we will move on and we will write another chapter of this crazy fucked up story of yours.  So come on,” he said taking my hand into his.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“Home,” he smiled.  “We’re going home.”

“And where is home?” I asked.

“I haven’t figured that out yet,” he smiled.  “You’re an idiot by the way.”

“Excuse me?” I laughed.

“You have a half a million dollars sitting in a bank account with your name on it, and you won’t touch it.  I haven’t figured out if that makes you a saint or an idiot, but I am leading more towards idiot right about now,” he laughed.

Letting Go of The $$ Maker

Posted by on Thursday, Sep 13, 2012, @, 7, pm in Politics | 0 comments

So I had my Board of Adjustments meeting last night.  Yes, I am still on the board (however I do forget at times).  In fact, I just re-applied for another term.  Anyway all in all – uneventful really except I saw Bill which was funny!  He’s always coming in the office at work.  It’s always nice to see a friendly face.  Anyway, so meeting in and of itself was like any normal meeting.  Public hearing, variance approval, yada yada.  There are three spots open on the Board if ANYONE OUT THERE wants to volunteer.  They always meet on Wednesdays at 6pm at the City Council Chambers by the Police Department.  Just putting it out there.

Anyway so the Board of Adjustments for the City meets like once every six months or so it seems.  I always thought it was because people never had variances they needed approved which always led me to not understand really why P&Z can’t just take care of what the Board does.  And then I learned that the Board of Adjustments used to be something.  It used to be busy, exciting and meetings happened at least once every 2 months.  Remember the Wind Mill case?  Come on!  NO ONE can forget Dr. Sosey’s Wind Mill case!!  That went before the Board of Adjustments.  But that was back when the city had a Code Enforcer.

Yes you heard me correctly – Lake Havasu City doesn’t have a Code Enforcer anymore and apparently they haven’t since I have been on the Board which has been like 2-3 years now.  But back when they had a Code Enforcer (you know kind of like the police only he/she goes out and finds violations and enforces City Code) the BOA was BUSY with tons of variance cases!

So what happened to the Code Enforcer?  Budget cuts!!

Now somebody tell me if my thinking is not logical here but why would the city cut the code enforcer?  The code enforcer goes out and pretty much looks for code violations!  What do code violations usually mean for the city?  Money!!  Say someone is in violation of a zoning code.  Well they will need to fix the problem which in turn will require them to spend money!  So why would the city cut the code enforcer?  Now granted having a code enforcer means you are paying for their salary, travel expenses, office expenses, etc etc, but I would THINK that if the person is doing their job right that the code violations would pay for themselves.  Now you have violations based on complaint alone and honestly – people are too lazy now a days to pick up the phone and report people, and people are not honest either.  They may know they are in violation but they won’t say anything.  So back to my original question – would you cut the code enforcer out of the budget?   I supposed it just doesn’t seem to make much since to me.

Oh well half the stuff the City does doesn’t matter since to me so why should I expect this to be any different.

The Duplex Everyone Always Wanted To Leave

Posted by on Saturday, Aug 25, 2012, @, 1, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

So this is the last week of the “Arapaho Saga” (or that’s what I’m calling it anyway). Debbie will be moved out by next weeks end, and it will end the year and a half saga. I say it like that because the apartment has gone through many tenants since January 2011 when Amber and Brooke originally rented the place.

With that said – here’s a look back at the last year and a half of the “Arapaho Saga.”

December 2010: Brooke, David, Terry and I went and looked at the new duplex Brooke and Amber rented. Their official move in date wasn’t until January, but I do believe Brooke got the keys a bit early. Amber at this point in time was in Kansas visiting family and friends for the Holidays.

The original plan was for Brooke to have the bedroom with the external bathroom and Amber was to have the master bedroom; however due to Amber having two kids under the age of 2 (Bones and MacKenzie) Amber and Brooke agreed shortly after she returned from Kansas to have it the other way around with Brooke in the master bedroom.

Some good times were had in that house between Amber, Brooke and myself. With Amber’s two lovely children there was never a dull moment -

We even jammed out to some tunes once in the kitchen on Bone Bones guitar

But the fun times came to an end around the end of March when Amber decided to move back to Kansas to be with her fiancée, Scotty. It was at this point in time that I decided to help Brooke out. Cory and I were living with his mother at this point in time and were planning to move out on our own in July. However with Amber suddenly deciding to leave and breaking the lease with Brooke, I decided my signing onto the lease in place of Amber would help her out. So we moved in with Brooke in April of 2011 to help her with rent and whatnot. The lease was good through the end of December.

At first everything started out great! Brooke got a job at the local gas station/restaurant called Neighbors. She enjoyed it and she liked it at first. Everyone got along, and well it was nice! I hadn’t lived with Brooke since 2006 when she moved out of the apartment her, Robert and I rented down in Tucson. So it was nice living with my best friend again.

Brooke ended up taking over Amber’s old room and we took the master bedroom. We finally put in a ceiling fan in the master bedroom. I hate to say it but when Amber and her lived there the apartment was kind of empty furniture wise. When Cory and I moved in, we brought and bought tons of stuff for the new place. We spent nearly our entire tax return moving in to that duplex with Brooke just by going out and buying new stuff. We really had planned on making it home at least until December.

We even went and got the pigs in April of 2011!! They were so small back then!! : )

But within 5 months, Cory and I were moving out.

Now I’m not going to sit here and point blame at anybody – it’s not what this blog post is about, but the happiness and fun I thought I would find by moving in with my best friend was not there. Maybe I had too high of expectations, but I think moving in with her was part of our downfall. She started seeing boys (which if u knew Brooke was a first and a shocker because she had never really had a boyfriend before). She was never home and she was missing more and more work.

We eventually found out that she still owed on her deposit from January, her mom was paying most of her bills and the day we moved out was the day she quit her job. Yeah – I’m not sure what happened with Brooke. If it was my fault or her own fault or maybe even this guy named Shawn’s fault who she ended up dating briefly while we lived there and somewhat while we moved out but by September of 2011 the Brooke I had grown up with, loved and cared for was gone and in her place was a girl I honestly didn’t care to know.

BUT I gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Debbie’s lease was up at the Magnolia house and she couldn’t afford really to leave on her own so she agreed to move in with Brooke and see the lease out through the end of December. Now when she made this agreement with Brooke – Brooke still had a job. It was THE DAY we moved out and THE DAY she moved in that Brooke lost that job.

Cory and I moved into a three bedroom on our own which actually was cheaper rent then the Arapaho house, but cheaper rent we would soon find out is not always the best deal!

It was a cute little apartment though but it was one of those income based places which means the neighbors and people around us were nothing but “low life’s” and I know not all income based places are like this but trust me when I say THIS ONE WAS!! It also didn’t have a washer and dryer in the unit which after Amber and Brooke moved in they went and got a washer and dryer for the Arapaho place so it did have that. Yeah we will never rent a place again without a washer and dryer cause having to holl laundry to the washer and dryer somewhere else is a pain in the ass.

We signed the lease in September for one year. We were out of there by April 2012.

As for Debbie and Brooke – it was a disaster from the get go. I think Debbie got about two months of rent out of her (actually out of her mother). Brooke was never home and if she was she was trying to sneak Shawn in (her on/off boyfriend who I honestly still think caused most of the issues she had). Brooke went from somewhat heavy set (like she was in the December 2010 video before the move in) to nothing but skin and bones within a month. We all thought she was on drugs and we still do. If she is or not is another story I cannot tell you.

Brooke moved out in December 2011 because Debbie finally kicked her out. They agreed that Debbie got to keep most of her stuff except clothes and personal items and that she would get whatever deposit back that was left at the end of the lease and/or whenever she moved out in exchange for the months of rent Brooke still owed her. At the same time, Brooke and I stopped talking but not so much because of what she did to Debbie but because she became someone I no longer cared to associate with.

Debbie renewed the lease at the Arapaho house until September 2012. It was the perfect place for Lucy with the fence and all. Lucy loved it. Debbie even got her a doggy door she could go in and out of it. It was nice, but there was something about that place that makes a person depressed. Maybe it’s the lack of windows. The only window in the entire kitchen/living room area is the patio door. There is one window in each bedroom and that is pretty much it. So despite the nice backyard, gated area – the place comes with some sort of negative/darkness to it. Which might explain why in the course of a year and a half there have been four different people on the lease.

Cory and I moved into our current place this past April and we LOVE it!!

The patio is HUGE, tons of windows, storage is huge, living room is huge, rooms are awesome, kitchen is awesome – it’s awesome! We have shared laundry with the neighbor (which the place has been empty next door since May) but it’s okay. The laundry is at least on the property. Lol!

So Debbie officially moves out August 31st from the Arapaho place thus ending the year and a half saga.

There were some good times in the place but at the end of the day I think we are all ready to pack up and move on.

A Daily Rant (Maybe I Should Do More Of These)

Posted by on Thursday, Jun 14, 2012, @, 10, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

Warning: I am going out tomorrow night around 9pm with my friend, Kryssi.  We are more than likely going to get drunk and I more than likely am going to regret it in the morning.  This is a fair warning:  If I end up posting random, crazy, stupid shit on facebook or end up drunk dialing you – I apologize in advance.   You have been warned!

————

So most of this week has been spent cleaning and FINALLY unpacking the last of the boxes we needed to unpack.  Aka: The movies and books!!  Well okay we actually left most of the books in storage.  Honestly why unpack them?  I am never going to read them.  I do E-Books now.  I love E-books!!  I’d so rather carry my phone or Ipad around and read then a book.  So if I am going to read a book, it’s going to be an electronical copy.  So most of the books are still downstairs in storage.

Speaking of books – I started reading Fifty Shades of Grey.  Everyone says it’s a great book.  I’m on Chapter 7 and yes it is thus far a great book.  It sure does keep you interested.  I hate and love Christian Grey all at once.  What is with the paper work and disclosure agreements?  Haha!  Maybe Jared should have made me sign them back in the day … Oooo!!  Yeah right!!  But anyway, it’s a good book thus far.

Anyway (there I go again getting off topic) so we have been unpacking and cleaning because our quarterly inspection is coming up next Tuesday with First Choice.  I don’t think it’s a requirement that your place be spick and span.  They mostly are looking for lease violations and unsafe electrical wiring and whatnot.  However, I like my place to be spick and span when people are coming over to view it.

So with our ‘extra’ money we have obtained – Cory and I each decided to get ourselves something with it.  He got a Keurig machine  and I bought a magic bullet.  Now normally I don’t like coffee but Cory got this K-Cups called Café Mocha at Big Lots the other day and OMG they are to die for!!  It’s like hot chocolate only coffee but you can’t taste the coffee!!  I make myself a cup every AM now.  However I don’t like them hot.  So I pour them into the magic bullet cup with ice, add some milk and blend.  Yum!!  I also love the K-Cups of Chia Tea, but we ran out of those.  We must order more!!  Yummy!!

So I think Mick has been convinced to let me drive the 4th of July Weekends instead of just answer phones.  It was my idea (however I am kind of nervous because although I have lived here since I was 9 – except for the three years I was in Tucson – I really don’t know my way around that well).  I think it’ll be fun and plus it does pay more!  But more importantly – it’ll be fun!!  : )  Something different.  I answer phones at my day job.  I’d like to mix it up a bit ya know.  But anyway like 5 people have put in their notices due to obtaining another job, so he’s short on staff.  In fact, Cory is picking up some extra shifts this weekend.

Oh speaking of weekend – last weekened Todd, Grandma, Mem, Pops, Cory and myself all went to Bullhead to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings for Pops Bday.  We took one car.  Yeah – never again!  Lol!  But anyway the food was good.  I guess Todd didn’t like it.  But he got a hamburger.  You go there to get the BBQ Pork Sandwich.  Duh!!  But I will admit – they are not as good as when Cory and I first went there that one day last fall with his mother.

Speaking of Cory’s mother – I went over to visit her the other day.  I helped clean her fish tank and we had dinner.  Fun times!!

Well I decided to update the blog since I haven’t done so in over a week.  I can’t REALLY take off a whole month of not blogging.  I mean I HAVE to blog if for no other purpose then to have content for Part 4 of AOTM.

Speaking of which – I need to work on getting out chapters.

Talk to you all later,

5 Down – 7 More To Go

Posted by on Monday, Jun 4, 2012, @, 7, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

Before I begin the May recap, I want to state this: I think I’m going to take a month break from blogging. I know!! Shocking!! But I want to try something. I want to write for me – unedited – for one month without the world being able to read it and I want to see how much more real I am. I’ll probably still post my Free Write Fridays and whatnot, but I just wanna try and be me (unedited) and for some reason I feel I can’t do that publicly at the moment.

But for now here is my May recap. Enjoy!

Here’s my monthly recap for May 2012!

Let’s take a moment to go over my 2012 Goal List & see what I did or did not accomplish

My 12 in 2012 goal list :

  • Complete the 365 (366 technically cause 2012 is a leap year) Project by posting once a day on my blog Okay I DID miss a day or two but for the most part I have been keeping up with posting (or trying too) at least once a day!
  • Finish Affair of the Mind Part 1 ! Am I ever going to finish it? I have 7 more months to go … right? : ) It’ll happen!
  • Read 12 books in 2012 I read 2 books this month! Go me!! I read Rogue’s Hallow and also The Fault In Our Stars (haven’t done a book review on it though) for the #twookclub.
  • Go vacation in a state I haven’t ever vacationed in before Still a work in progress … looking very doubtful this will happen this year.
  • Lose at least 5lbs (10 is actually what I would prefer to lose but I am trying to keep this reasonable) by summer Well … I’m not doing a real good job on this goal! I really lack in energy! I  don’t know what’s wrong.  I think I need to make that doctor appointment.
  • Finally launch my web design business site & get the business fully up and running  No new clients but the site is up and running.
  • Create 12 of my own unique food recipes I made my Cinco De Mayo Chicken Enchiladas!  Yummy!
  • Enroll in some sort of continuing education by 2013, wither it be graduate school or another B.S. program I officially went down to MCC and talk to an advising counseling.  I have 2 yrs at MCC to get an associates in Web Design.  I don’t know though if I wanna do it yet … 4 more years of college??  Really??  Eh, maybe I’ll just go get some nursing certificate or something.  ::shrugs::
  • Build up our savings account to at least have $1500 in it by year end We actually HAVE a savings account with $175 (as of Tuesday when I get paid for the extra job I worked during Memorial Weekend).  We paid off our deposit on the new place, have money set aside for electric and Cory and I both purchased one thing we wanted with our extra money (I got a Magic Bullet and he got a Keurig machine).
  • Interact more with the blogging community I try but fail at times …

We had our house warming party & got some awesome gifts!!

Cory started his new job for the shuttle company! At first I wasn’t happy but I’m okay with it now. : )

I worked at Cory’s work for some extra $$ during the Memorial Day Holiday.

I started my “Who To Vote For Series” with the Az House & Senate Candidates (on the Republican ticket mind you!).

24Hrs of Being Awake

Posted by on Saturday, May 26, 2012, @, 2, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

It can make you go crazy sometimes!!!

I went to bed at 5am this morning.  Yes, I was officially up for 24hrs!!  Craziness!!

Trust me I was dead tired by 5am.  You know I don’t know how people do the whole ‘two job,’ go to school, thing!  But I use to be one of those people.  I would get up at 5am and go to school, then from there I’d go work for Buster and then after that I’d go work at Albertsons (and if I wasn’t working at Albertsons I was hanging out with my friends and doing homework till 1am to 2am in the morning).  Yes that was a typical Monday through Friday in my life during my last semester of high school.  I was 18 then.  Wow what a difference 7 years makes.  I could never do that now!

But anyway so I had my coffee and soda to keep me awake yesterday.  It was busy.  We had calls going non-stop and the bar rush was pretty busy.  They say tonight will be crazier though (I am sure).  Cory made $270 in fares and some good tip money.  Not sure how much I made – I make like 10% of tips and 25% of the drivers average fares.  Cory makes 30% of his fares.  I figure all in all we probably pulled a good $250-$300 between the two of us last night.  We get paid Tuesday – so we’ll know for sure then.  But yeah it was fun.  Got to meet Cory’s boss.  He’s hilarious and this other girl, Sabrina, is pretty awesome too.

The actual job of dispatcher is not that hard.  I thought it’d be harder and more challenging, but honestly it wasn’t.   You answer the phone, dispatch the call out so the drivers known where to go (and sometimes give them directions if they don’t have GPS), and write down the call in information and what driver took care of the call.  Not too hard.  Tonight might be more challenging because there will be more drivers on and the phones will be busier I am sure.

But yeah got out of there around 330am.  Cory got out a little bit after me.  He didn’t work till six cause the breaks in his van were going out which means if they don’t get fixed today we’ll have no backup van for tonight.  Ekk!  But anyway Cory brought breakfast home from Jack in the Box at 430am.  I watched an episode of One Tree Hill, ate my breakfast and went to bed.

And now here I am at 150pm!!  I have to be back to work at 6pm.  So I’m gonna go watch some One Tree Hill, get ready, eat and yeah … !  Fun times!

Alright!  Later!

Free Write Friday – v.18

Posted by on Friday, May 18, 2012, @, 11, pm in Writings | 0 comments

I am doing LAST week’s prompt (yes there was a Free Write last week it was just posted late and I didn’t get around to doing it) because I like it better.

Free writing — also called stream-of-consciousness writing — is a prewriting technique in which a person writes continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, or grammar. It produces raw, often unusable material, but helps writers overcome blocks of apathy and self-criticism. It is used mainly by prose writers and writing teachers. Some writers use the technique to collect initial thoughts and ideas on a topic, often as a preliminary to formal writing. Each Friday Kellie Elmore posts a prompt for everyone to write off of. Check out the site to see all prompts and start Free Write Friday your own.

Here is Today’s Prompt:

Time & Place Scenario

You have been traveling by train in Europe. You wake to find that you’ve missed your stop and you are the last one aboard. You reach for your luggage in the hold above and as you pull it down a wallet (not belonging to you) falls out. You open it to find a large amount of cash…
Tell me a story!

Okay I may have changed the ‘scenario’ a little.  I didn’t “awake” to miss my stop, but the point is still there.

As the hours grew later the only thing on my mind was getting home.  The train ride from London to Cambridge was only a little over an hour, but riding the same route five days out of the week was starting to become a drag.  My stop was the last on the route and on Friday at 10pm, I was usually the last person on the train.

As I went to grab for my bags like I always did, I notice a wallet fall onto the floor.  At first I thought it was the gentleman who had gotten off at the last stop.  However flipping through the wallet, I saw no identification that it belonged to anybody.  Inside the wallet was around $5,000 U.S. dollars.  “Who carries this much cash on them?” I thought.

As I exited the train at my stop, I was about to return the money filled wallet to the train personal until I noticed two small initials on the back side of the wallet.  “JL,” I laughed.  “Oh you never give up do you?” I screamed aloud as I put the wallet into my bag and walked towards my two bedroom apartment just two blocks from the train station.

The following day I stood on his door step banging on his door.  “I know you’re home!” I yelled outside.

“Yes?” he asked slightly opening the door just enough so I could see his sarcastic looking smile staring back at me.

“You never give up do you?” I shouted pushing the door open and letting myself in.

“I have no idea what you speak of,” he smiled.

“I don’t want your money!” I yelled throwing the wallet at him.

“It’s not my money.  It’s yours.  Anyway I have a busy day planned so if you don’t mind,” he said reopening the door and handing me the wallet back.

“I don’t want your blood money!” I yelled shoving the wallet back against his chest.

“Oh let it go!  You are what, fifty years old!  It’s okay,” he smiled.  “I mean come on don’t you want to enjoy the last years of your life.”

“Good bye,” I said angrily trying to walk past him out the door.  I paused and turned around to face him as I said, “you can try to give me the money on my death bed, and even though I won’t take it.”

“Not even to avoid life on the streets?  Not even to help your daughter pay for college or help your daughter during struggling times?  Really?” he asked.

“No because I know the story behind that money, and I’d rather live on the streets then take a dime of that money,” I said walking away.

“You know there’s over 4 million dollars in the account today right?” he exclaimed as I walked away.

“Don’t care!  Even if there was twenty million, I wouldn’t take it.  I don’t want money that once belonged to the guy you murdered.”

Juice – It’s All About The Juicy Gossip

Posted by on Friday, May 18, 2012, @, 12, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

Opps … sorry people!  No juicy gossip to report.  Nope nope!  You all have to read AOTM Part 4 to find out the juicy gossip I was just informed of this morning.  It’s juicy enough that I can’t repeat it on this here blog, but you know ALL juicy gossip will go into AOTM.  Nothing will be spared in the making of that story!  Muah Muah!

Anyway I felt bad about last night.  So I wrote Cory this email this AM.   I wanted to make sure he knew he was appreciated.

My love,
I just wanted to apologize for my actions last night. I want you to know that I really do appreciate you going out and finding a job. The money you bring in will help us extremely. I am sorry if I come across as a selfish bitch and ungrateful for the fact you went out and got a job. I am very grateful. I will get use to you not being around a couple nights a week. It’s not the end of the world. Besides you can come home, tell me all about your day (well night actually) at work (and all the juicy gossip cause you know I like juicy gossip) and we can hang out in the AM which is something we never got to do before. But I do appreciate you and everything you do – I just wanted to say that. You mean the world to me. I know I don’t say it enough.
I love you!!
Sarah
So anyway Cory made money last night!  A good $50 in commission and he brought home $50!  Yeah!!  : )  Not that $$ matters though but I suppose it makes the job worth it.  Oh and I haven’t met his boss yet but I love him already!  Juicy gossip!  Juicy !!  And to top it off – juicy gay gossip!  Muah!  You all know – I am addicted to juicy gay gossip!  Hello – it’s what AOTM is centered around (well that and a murder!  Duh!).
Anyway, that is all!  Laterz!

Everyone Needs Extra $$ Now and Then

Posted by on Thursday, May 10, 2012, @, 6, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

I got the best news today!!  See I was sitting here wondering how we were going to pay all the bills at the end of the month if this $150 from my side job didn’t pan out, and Cory calls me and tells me he got a job and starts Sunday!  Yeahhhh!  At first I was like ‘but Sunday is Mother’s day!!’ (we had plans to go to Crystal’s with the parents for dinner but turns out now just I will be going) but then I thought about it and I realized – WE NEED THE $$!!

He got a job as a driver for a shuttle service here in town.  The hours are odd like 6pm to 6am Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday but it’s okay.  They will work for him.  He’s a night person anyway.

It’ll take getting use to because I won’t see him as often but it’ll be ok.  Maybe I need the time to myself in order to figure me out.  Besides I can always go hang with the parents or someone on the nights he works.

Seriously this is like a blessing because we are hurting for money right now.  So any extra he makes in tips or anything will be awesome.  We could maybe even fix the boat up by September and be able to go out on the lake this fall.

Ehhhh!!

So as much as I will miss spending every night with the hubby – we needed this.

Thank you universe!

I love you Cory!

The Sex Life Of The Halls

Posted by on Saturday, May 5, 2012, @, 6, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

Haha! I got you all didn’t I? You all clicked the link thinking this was some big huge blog about my sex life. Ahhhh … sorry to disappoint but those days I am afraid are done. No longer are the days of Sarah’s sex life being written and typed across the wonderful World Wide Web. Nope! Sorry folks – there are certain chapters that just have to someday come to a close.

HOWEVER – and I do say this with a smile on my face – if you REALLY want to read about my sex life make a note that whenever Part 4 of AOTM is released (yeah whenever the day comes! Probably in like five years) THEN you can read about my current sex life (however at that point in time it won’t be very current now will it which means you’d have to wait for Part 5 at that point but who said anything about a Part 5! Shouldn’t the story of Ann Mathews and Justin Lenox end at SOME point!! Of course it should but I think that would entitle one of us to be dead which will probably happen after the release of Part 4 because I did say – if you were paying attention – that Part 4 which is ‘technically’ the end has a surprise ending no one saw coming. Oh now look what I have done? I have gotten distracted again from the point I was trying to make!! Grrr!)!

Anyway this blog entry is not about sex. Sorry folks! BUT I do encourage you to keep reading as you might find some small tid bit about my life that you might find interesting! Yes people – there is more to life than just sex (took me years to realize it though but I supposed that’s beside the point too and also a topic that should be stricken to AOTM Chapters only).

So today is Saturday!! Yeah! Most of the day was spent shopping. We went to Smiths and the 99 cent store together some groceries and what not. Tomorrow I have a birthday party to attend, Cory’s mom is coming over to spend the night tonight and oh yeah Cinco De Mayo is today which means homemade Chicken Enchiladas! Yum!

Which speaking of plans – I am not so certain I want to go back to school! Yes, I know! Sit down people! I mean don’t get me wrong – I do! I DO want to go back and obtain a Web Design Degree but I DO NOT want to also obtain another $18000 in student loan debt. It’s already freaking me out right now with my current debt (which you cannot get written off in a bankruptcy by the way). Right now my debt is deferred to be “economic hardships” but you can only do that for three years. Now granted going back to school would put my current loans in deferment, but the point is at the end of all this if I go back and take out MORE loans I’ll just have MORE to pay back!! So why not go back to school and oh I don’t know – ACTUALLY PAY FOR IT!!! I can pay for Mohave Community College out of pocket (they do offer a payment plan with no interest may I add) and in the meantime I’ll open my website business, make tons of money, and then save it to pay for ASU (hey can I write college off as a business expense since technically I am going back to school for said business? Hmmm). Either way – I don’t know! I want to go back to school but I don’t want the extra debt piled onto what I already have. So I don’t know – I need to sit down and think about it long and hard!! In the meantime though, I’ll do the paper work – ya know just in case.

So anyway enough about school and “serious” talk! Let’s talk about my pigs! Yes my cute little guinea pigs!! The hubby made the pigs an outside play area. They LOVE it! They can only enjoy it for maybe one more month cause after that it’ll get too hot, but they are having a good old time! Hehe! We have had our cute little pigs now for over a year! Aren’t they adorable!? >
20120505-172539.jpg

20120505-172555.jpg They have gotten so big and kind of stuck up too may I add. I mean if they don’t get their carrots in the morning and timothy hay at night – omg! They make sure you know it!

Anyway other than that – not much to report. Okay fine! Maybe my life is kind of boring. I go to work, came home, eat dinner, watched TV and yada yada! Fine! Not much excitement but still …!!

I could all tell you how AOTM Part 4 ends … but then what fun would that be?

Not So Cokey & Lovey This Week

Posted by on Thursday, May 3, 2012, @, 6, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

I have decided that I am king of tired of doing my Coke & Love Series.  It’s not that I don’t like doing it.  I’m just tired of doing it.  Shouldn’t I be updating everyday about my not so exciting life for you all to read instead of once a week with a “weekly” not so popular series?  I think so.  It’s how it used to be and people seemed to like the out there, in your face, not so edited version of ME and well I kind of liked that too.  So maybe we should get back to business.  Let’s get back to me being here for “your entertainment” purposes (yes I am STILL in love with Adam Lambert) because let’s face it my blog lately has been kind of boring and if I EVER EVER want to be ANYTHING like the amazing Bloggess then I need a not-so-boring blog that only posts “weekly” series and yada yada yada boring boring boring.

So with that said (yes I really do envision the day when my blog hits 1-2 million viewers and not because I write tutorials or boring crap either but because I write controversy and maybe even throw a little bit of sex advice in every once in a while – we can’t all forget the “sex column” that got Kelly and I pretty much thrown out of Rainbow River Pride which started the Havasu LGBT group in the first place – now can we?) here is the weekly (try not to make it so boring) recap of my week thus far (I mean technically it’s NOT over yet).

Friday (yes I have decided to go ALL the way back to Friday!) $180 was spent on two tires for the boat trailer.  We spent $180 for two tires to be able to get the boat from Shawna’s place to our place which is probably less than five miles.  But all in all – it was SOOOOO worth it!  I know I haven’t seemed as excited as I should lately about the purchase of our boat, but I am truly happy about it!  My mood lately mainly is because all I have seemed to be doing lately is sitting here bitching, moaning and groaning about money.  In fact, I spent the ENTIRE weekend sad and depressed because I looked at our budget and thought we didn’t have enough $$ for the bills.  Well turns out the excel spreadsheet we use to do our budget had a formula wrong in it somewhere between this month and October’s budget.  I re-did the ENTIRE budget on Monday and turns out we’ll be okay.  See the problem lies in the fact that in July we have to start paying for Cory’s insurance.  I know the damn state of Arizona decided NOT to pay for insurance for people who don’t have children!  Damn stupid state of Arizona … damn … oh wait!  That was the Republicans who did that huh?  Hehe!  Oh never mind – either way – point being we now have to pay for it which is fine!  We have the money! Anyway, so I may have been sad, depressed and mopping all weekend over a stupid formula that wasn’t even correct to begin with!  I hope no one took it personal!

Anyway I am kind of bummed we don’t have the $$ to fix the boat up this summer, but whatever!  We have a boat and by next summer – even if I have to sell my right arm (wouldn’t sell my leg because then I couldn’t get INTO the boat) – we will be out there on the lake, getting a sun tan, drinking some beer (well not me – I’ll stick to Diet Mt. Dew or Ice Tea), and driving all over this lake!  You know I have lived in Lake Havasu since I was 9 (except for those three years I was in Tucson but I do try to forget those times) and I have NEVER really truly toured the lake.  So next summer – I’m going to add that to my “to do” list.

So anyway – we got the boat!  We spent Saturday SOMEWHAT cleaning it!!  SOMEWHAT!  I mean there is a LOT that needs to be done.  Like the boat needs deep cleaned, new carpet and in my opinion a new paint job but we got it wet is the point.

Sunday – let’s not discuss Sunday.

Monday I went back to work!!  After TWO WHOLE DAYS OFF, back to work I went.  Now don’t expect me to write too much about work on this here blog.  1) I don’t want the pleasure of being mentioned in Mohave County Folks facebook page.  Those damn right wing nut jobs are what give the Republicans a bad name and the County too and 2) I honestly on some days really have nothing to report.

Tuesday … what happened on Tuesday?  Hmmm …. I supposed not much seeing that I can’t even remember Tuesday and it’s ONLY Thursday.

Wednesday – ah Cory decided to bring home a BIG HUGE ASS crate (and when I say crate I mean crate) of strawberries and tomatoes.  Okay we ended up throwing half the strawberries away (now mind you these crates were free!  We didn’t pay for them) because they were bad but what in the world am I to do with a huge ass crate of tomatoes!  I DON’T EVEN LIKE TOMATOES!!!  Oya!  But whatever – I supposed I can make pasta sauce with them.

Today I went down to the Nautical to take pics of the boss and got a very educational update on the Horizon Six Flood Project.  It’s actually very interesting!  I never realized Havasu was sitting right under a water basin like that!  Crazy!

Anyway so lots planned for the month of May!  This weekend is Cinco De Mayo and I am making homemade chicken enchiladas.  Next weekend is not only Terry’s Bday Party but Mother’s Day!  The following weekend is our Housewarming Party and then of course Memorial Day Weekend in which I am trying to talk the parents and husband into going to the Hoover Damn.   We shall see about that.

Anyway – see wasn’t this SO much more fun than boring old Coke and Love!  I think so!  However I do think the post needed more pictures and maybe even a video or two added in.  Hmmm!  Oh well – there is ALWAYS next time!

Love you all bunches!!

Ps – I am ONLY like 999,999,980 views away from my 1-2 million mark!  : )

Coke & Love – v.14

Posted by on Thursday, Apr 5, 2012, @, 12, pm in Sarahs Rants | 0 comments

It’s Coke & Love time again. It’s based off of Wine and Love hosted by Nora! But because I really don’t like wine – I am calling it “Coke & Love” because I am addicted to Diet Coke. It’s where you share your weekly wines (or beer, liquor, soda- whatever your beverage preference is) and then your loves since last Thursday.

If you want to participate in Wine and Love (or whatever else you feel like calling it) you can link up to the series on Nora’s site.

Things Making Me Reach For My Bottle of Diet Coke …

Web design!! Ahhh! Just kidding! I love doing webdesign. I’m just frustrated at the moment with it. Doing a design for a client and can’t seem to get the header just right. I’m sure after tweaking with the code for eight hours, I’ll figure it out! LoL! Also trying to re-do my own website design to a more javascript based theme. I think I have figured it out and hope to display a new layout in the next couple of days on here. “Hope” being the keyword!

My motivation is lacking again! I have used the excuse all week that the only reason I’m not getting up at 5am to do my WiiFit workout is because 1) we don’t have batteries for the Wiifit board (or if we do they are still packed in a box) and 2) the Wii has not been officially hooked up to the TV yet. Yes, I know – horrible excuses! I can go get batteries at the 99 Cent Store for well 99 Cents and it’d take me five minutes to hook up the Wii! Grrr! Well maybe tonight I’ll get around to hooking up the Wii and I do have to go to the 99 Cent Store after work so I supposed I’ll pick up some batteries for my board.

So we got Cory’s car fixed! Cost us $520 and I STILL feel AAMCO lied to us but … WHATEVER! They told me when I called them Saturday (and their website says so too) that the repairs would be around $350 and we could go on a payment plan for them with no interest for six months and it’d be a pay at our own pace system. If we chose to do $40 a month then they’d take it out of our account ever month and so forth. If it wasn’t paid off in six months then we’d start to earn interest. Well he went down there on Monday and the repairs ended up being $420 and it wasn’t any “no interest” deal for six months. It turned out to be a Title Loan deal. Grrr! Well he signed up for it because neither of us realized what was going on. The end result – we ended up paying $520 three days later because there was no way I was paying $800 for repairs that cost $420 in the long run. So the way I look at it is we ended up paying what we would have paid for had we gone to Brake Masters. They wanted $500 something for repairs. So whatever … Lol!

Things That I’m Loving This Week …

I’m still loving our new place!! We still have knick knacks and whatnot to unpack but for the most part it’s coming along. I will have pictures this weekend – I PROMISE! And if you all are lucky – a video too! Hehe!

Oh good news on the $$ front. Even though we ended up paying $520 for repairs – we are still in the + and Cory got an unexpected refund check in the mail from Mohave Community College from like years ago. We also found out we’re getting $60 back from our old electric deposit which will go towards our NEW deposit. Hehe!

As much as it DOES take some getting use to – I do like our new “somewhat” free cable setup! The picture quality of the antenna is amazing and Roku is a fairly easy little box to navigate.

What are your wines and loves of the week?
